I liked the dialogue in Brick. You do have to approach it musically, but after I'd read it several times, it seemed to come quite naturally. And we rehearsed for a long time. Joe [Gordon-Levitt] and I would go to Rian's [Johnson] house to block scenes and go over dialogue. The shoot was only 20 days. Rian was amazing. He seemed so relaxed. The first time we went, Rian cooked us lunch - stuffed red bell peppers. He's a good cook. But after that we mostly ate take-outs.
